Gunter Damisch

Lienz

Born in 1958 in Steyr, Upper Austria, Gunter Damisch is one of Austria’s leading contemporary painters. In the 1980s he was one of a younger generation of painters who reacted to the dominant, austere and overly intellectual styles of the 70s with hefty, subjective paintings. The New Wild/Wild Youth (Neue wilde) in Germany and Austria is part of a new style that develops almost simultaneously in Europe (free figuration) and in the USA (new image painting).

Gunter Damisch, since 1997 professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, is exhibiting in the Gaudens Pedit Gallery oil paintings, graphics and sculptures from recent years.
