Matthias Bernhard, Ursula Buchart, Gunter Damisch, Christoph Holzeis, Alois Mosbacher, Hans Staudacher

The Gaudens Pedit Gallery starts off the spring with its spring! exhibition. Six differing artistic stances provide a brief insight into the national art scene. Works from recognised artists such as Gunter Damisch, Alois Mosbacher and Hans Staudacher are confronted by oeuvres from young artists – Matthias Bernhard, Ursula Buchart and Christoph Holzeis. Fresh, bright colours that illustrate the spring awakening in the context of the exhibition dominate the selection. Hans Staudacher’s expressive, lyrical Informel, Gunter Damisch’s strongly coloured and pastose micro- and macrocosms and Alois Mosbacher’s expressive painting verging on the figurative and moving on the borderline between painting and graphics indicate the spectrum of painting tradition in Austria, which is carried on in the powerful, archaic paintings of Matthias Bernhard, in Ursula Buchart’s personal artistic interpretation of trivial clichés and in Christoph Holzeis’s works of narrative, figural painting resulting from his becoming aware of painting processes.
