Good Prospects

Good Prospects (Gute Aussichten) are what spring heralds for the Gaudens Pedit Gallery in Lienz. Six students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna were invited to show their works in the Brennerleweg gallery. As a kind of peep through the keyhole is how the exhibition is conceived, presenting the young up-and-coming artists from the schools of abstract painting (Univ.Prof. Erwin Bohatsch), graphics and printed graphics techniques (Univ.Prof. Gunter Damisch) and extended pictorial space (Univ.Prof. Daniel Richter).

With the aid of photography, drawing and gingerbread hearts Catharina Coreth criticises passed-on sets of values, norms and the constraints of etiquette. Anna Khodorkovskaya abstracts and transforms products and imagery of the advertising industry into vividly coloured painting. The painting of Dominika Orzol is marked by partly screaming colours and silhouetted shapes. In the works of Michael Fanta peaceful architectural shapes, views of landscapes and pictures within pictures are irritatingly infiltrated by an unchanging strange head. Surreal interior images in flowing, tranquil movements and subdued colours characterise Eiko Gröschl’s artwork. Johann Niesel exhibits delicate graphic oil images.
